Full Story:
"Yes. That's him. That's Kirk DePaul." says Power Company founding partner, Josiah Power as he identifies the body of Manhunter Kirk DePaul. Agent Chase exits the morgue and gets a status report from a detective on the condition of Victoria Tate, DePaul's date from the night before that was shot. The detective also mentions that there was more than the victim's blood on the rooftop. Josiah attempts to ask about the investigation, but Chase tells him it's confidential. Josiah understands and offers any assistance he can, including his private jet for Chase to use to fly to L.A.
Kate is admiring the spatial distortion tech that Dylan uses to keep his workshop larger than it appears, when Dylan says that he found a homing circuit in Kate's staff. He wasn't able to remove it without more time, so he just put a nullifying cover over it for the time being. As Kate leaves, we see that someone is taking photos of Kate and Dylan from a distance. It is Ted Shoemaker, the tabloid reporter, who is continuing to follow Kate. He takes down Dylan's address and calls in for the listing on it. As the reporter drives past Dylan, Dylan sees him and thinks to himself that the guy looks familiar.
Mark Shaw is sleeping in his truck muttering to himself, "ummm... No!... won't do it..." when he is awoken by two Manhunter of Oa Robots. "No--Man--Escapes--The--Manhun..." Shaw attacks the robots. Hitting one with the car door, lowblowing the other and continuing to punch him on the ground. The other robot pulls out a nightstick and cracks Shaw over the head; knocking him out. Once he's unconscious it is revealed that they weren't really Manhunter Robots, but uniformed police officers. "Probably a junkie. Crazy friggin' meth," one exclaims as he wipes blood from his mouth.
Kate returns to her office to find Cameron Chase waiting for her in the office. What appears to be a tense moment ends when the two hug and laugh, revealing that they're long time friends. Chase starts things off by mentioning the botched Shadow Thief trial and noticing Dylan Battles file, wondering why Kate has it out. Kate changes the subject by asking what Chase is doing in L.A. and she says, "You've heard about these Manhunter Murders?" Initially, Kate thinks Chase is referring to her and what happened with Copperhead and Monocle. Chase corrects her, saying not the new female Manhunter, but the deaths of former Manhunters. As the two begin to discuss the case and the new Manhunter's possible connection, Damon walks by and he and Chase begin to catch up. Suddenly, Chase's phone rings and she tells Kate to grab her stuff, it's time to go, "LAPD just arrested Mark Shaw." Kate grabs her briefcase and they are off.
At a book signing, the man claiming to be Kate's father approaches Peter Robinson and tells him to make it out to "Walt." As Walt walks away, Ramsey comes back from the bathroom and asks why grandpa didn't wait to see him. Peter, realizing now who it was, runs outside to get him, but he is already gone.
At the 27th Precinct, Chase interviews the arresting officers and tells D.A. Scheetz that he won't be needed, "this is a Federal matter as of now." Another officer takes Chase and Kate down to the interrogation room where Shaw is being held, noting that Shaw hasn't spoken a word since he got there. The officer points out the duffel bag that Shaw had with him and Chase goes in to try and get Shaw to talk. Shaw isn't responding to Chase's questions, but she notices blood running down his left arm and asks him if it was from the struggle with the officers or a different fight. As Shaw continues the silent treatment, Kate looks through Shaw's duffel bag and discovers a staff just like hers! Kate then storms into the interrogation room offering to make Shaw a deal, but before Chase can yell at Kate for interrupting, an urgent page from the DEO forces her to leave the room. As Chase looks for a phone, Kate attempts to ask Shaw a few questions of her own, when suddenly, Shaw speaks! "You're the last one." "The last what?" asks Kate. Agent Wayne Howard of the DEO tells Chase on the phone that they identified the other blood at the DePaul scene: it's Mark Shaw's! Shaw opens Kate's briefcase revealing her Manhunter gear and then grabs Kate's arm saying, "The last Manhunter." Chase drops the phone rushing back to the other room when an explosion blows through the hall.
